T-Ball and Farm Status:
After much consideration and debate, we regret to announce cancellation of the 2020 Season for Farm and T-ball divisions.
This decision was not made lightly and was made after considering required safety protocols, the additional logistical and volunteer-needs (due to the age of these participants), and actions/guidance from other local youth sports teams and neighboring cities.
In lieu of an official season, we hope to offer Farm and T-ball hitting and fielding clinics similar to ones held in January and February. Please be on the lookout for communications on these activities.
Please read on to the last portion of this email for our refund process.
Upper Divisions Status:
While San Mateo County progresses further into Stage 3 of reopening, we continue to wait for more explicit guidance in regards to opening activities for our AA, AAA, Majors, and Juniors divisions. Some Bay Area leagues have resumed practices for these divisions and many local leagues continue to plan for a restart. I will also say here that the following is in plan only. Given the news of the last few days, this is all very much subject to change.
BRSLL will continue planning for a resumption of practices only, targeting the week of July 13th (with the season ending in mid/late August). Games will be addressed at a later time if/when circumstances permit.
Our intention behind announcing this date is to allow families to adequately plan their schedules accordingly and to allow the league to get ramped back up as we wait for additional guidance and clearance from the City, County and State. This is not an official restart date. In parallel, we are finalizing our safety protocols for resuming activities and this will be shared with the league in advance of any restart. Please be on the lookout in the upcoming weeks.
Next Steps, including Refund Options/Process
As we shared in our prior communications, in preparation for a full season of baseball, and prior to the official suspension of activities (March 12), about 50% of total registration fees collected was spent on the following:
- Field rehabilitation and maintenance
- Facilities rentals
- Uniforms, including white pants from Goetz Bros.
- Pre-season hitting & fielding clinics
- Insurance + city fees
T-Ball/Farm Families - In consideration of these expenses, families will receive a 50% refund on their players’ registration fees, less the $7.50 administrative fee.
There is no action required on your part at this time. You will receive your refund in the upcoming weeks. If your original payment method has changed, please reach out to firstname.lastname@example.org.
AA, AAA, Majors, and Juniors families – Those who wish to unregister their player(s) at this time have the following 2 options:
REFUND: Email email@example.com with subject line ‘REFUND,’ and families will receive a 50% refund on their players’ registration fees (less the $7.50 administrative fee).
DONATE: Your player will withdraw, but BRSLL retains registration fee as a donation. Email firstname.lastname@example.org with subject line ‘DONATE,’ and we will provide you information towards your donation (possibly tax-deductible).
For those who intend to continue/participate in the 2020 season, no action is required at this time.
We understand this continues to be a difficult and uncertain time for many families. Anyone with questions or if the refund process does not work for your particular situation, may discuss with me privately at email@example.com.
At the end of the summer, the league will strongly consider further refunds and consider discounting registration fees for returning players in Spring 2021.
We thank you for your continued support and look forward to sending more news soon. Until then, please continue to stay healthy and safe.
David Elliott - BRSLL President on behalf of the Board of Directors
